Come along for an adventurous romp into a colorful vibrant world of words with the lovable legible WordFriends animals whose bodies are made up of the letters that spell the word they are.The WordFriends go on comic adventures and face challenges that can only be resolved with the right word. That word is built letter by letter sound by sound during the funky Build a Word song at the end of every episode. Once the word is built it morphs or comes alive into the thing it is! Word building reinforces the pre-reading concept that letters (and their sounds) make words and that words have real meaning...and power. The series also introduces literacy concepts that preschoolers will encounter as they become readers such as sounding out letters and rhyming. But most of all WordWorld helps children get excited about reading and see words as their friends.Includes these episodes:Happy Birthday Dog!Sh-Sh-Shark!The Mystery of the Disappearing PieSnug as a BugSystem Requirements:Run Time: 60 minutes Genre: CHILDREN/FAMILY UPC: 843501007006 Average Rating:
![]() Rating: - Wonderful!!!I'm a kindergarten teacher and I love this show. My class and I watch WordWorld on PBS everyday after lunch while they take turns going to the restroom. They hate it when we have to turn it off and move on because they see the things they learn in the morning in a cool and fun cartoon. This show is very good about reinforcing topics that we are covering in class, not only has it covered letters and sounds, but it has worked on our rhyming skills and using pictures to help figure out what the words ... He was so engaged with the characters and spelled right along with them. Definitely worth a try for your preschooler! Rating: - Best show going...We love WordWorld! This program is wonderful! We watch it everymorning on television and then my daugther will watch it on the weekends on dvd! She is starting Kindergarten and she knows all her letters and sounds and can already write in sentences. I will recommend this DVD collection to anyone who asks. Rating: - Great show for early reading skillsMy three-year-old adores this show. After he saw it once, he wanted to watch it every morning, but he usually wakes up after the broadcast. So I purchased this one, and it's great. He's really learning from it -- not just literacy skills, but social skills as well. He often talks about the characters and storylines ("Sh-sh-shark!") and applies the same patterns in his everyday speech, such as isolating the initial sound of a word ("D-D-Daddy? Do you want to p-p-play?"). (No, he doesn't stutter!) Read More Rating: - Love it!I have a 23-month old and she loves this cartoon. When it came in the mail, which it came extremely fast, she just sat on the couch and looked at the cover forever stating "ruff ruff", so I put it in and she was running around the house clapping. So I just want to thank you for your fast service and making my daughter smile :-) |
