Scif-Fi with a Twist offers a very classic science fiction perspective throughout it's short stories. It's modern, and yet it feels like it could have been written in the 50's. It has everything that is right about science fiction. It makes you think. It makes you fear and feel optimistic at the same time.

If you value old TV shows like the Twilight Zone, then you'll definitely love this book. Jack Legend tends to write like he took classes under Rod Serling. The fact of the matter is that Jack Legend grew up watching the Twilight Zone, Outer Limits, and Alfred Hitchcock programs and loves the classic short story format and surprise endings those shows had to offer.

Sometimes, full length novels can be a complete waste of time and then there are short stories that you never forget. These are those kinds of stories.

Most of the stories contain at least some element of time travel, but there's also a healthy dose of space travel, and just average people finding themselves in extraordinary situations.

One story imagines what it would be like for a teenager from today's time to go back to his father's teen years in the 1980's. It's a simple plot, but it's filled with wonder and clearly shows the author's love of time travel. Other stories show us another version of Noah that travels in space, a thief that discovers his life could have been more, a writer that wishes himself into his own wild western story, and several other imaginative short stories.

Some of the stories seem to hover around Christian themes, but never come across as preachy. They are simply told as part of the lives of the characters and shows how those beliefs affect their lives. There are elements of the supernatural such as the Angel of Death, Heaven, and so forth, but only the hardest core atheist would likely shun these fantastical stories.

The focus of the book is story and sticks to how people, or at least some people, react and act upon facing various strange and bizarre circumstances.

Get the book yourself and read it for yourself. You'll be glad you did.
