- Indulgent by designI've been a fan of MSI since I first heard "Frankenstein Girls Will Seem Strangely Sexy"... but I'm not here to recount my life story, so let me get right down to the point. MSI has always been about ADHD-induced, silly, frantic, explosive, energetic and most importantly, "fun". Songs you couldn't possibly dance to (if you call flailing around dancing, then you can) that were "offensive" at every turn. "You'll Rebel to Anything" was a milestone in channeling that energy into a slightly more depressive way. "if" comes as a pull-no-punches type slap in the face. Have no doubts - this is the finest album since F.G.W.S.S.S. The songs are longer and a tad bit more "mature" in terms of music, but the content remains the same. Urine still spouts nonsense, albeit with more focus. The guitar/synthesizer work is excellent. The overall "content" of this album is... let's just end it with the word "focus", shall we? Channeled into the songs and to the (in)coherent lyrics, this one hits hard. One minor note though: although it's all good fun, there is a depression hidden behind each song, and one only has to scratch the surface to see the duality of "if". I'd recommend "if" to any MSI fan, and all those who have a knack for the bizarre and the interesting. Rating: - MSI Rocks!Usually a touret appeasing rock fest this album Im afraid even the worst case of ritalin addeled tourett suffering brain cant and doesnt want to keep up with. Sorry guys and girls not your best work Rating: - Pay For ItWow. This album is f'ing brilliant. Don't go and torrent it, go and PAY FOR IT. It is completley worth it. And Mark David Chapman? Excellent song. A real kick in the face to all of the unoriginal bands out there. Rating: - More Commercialized But Still GreatMSI's new album "IF" was still good but it did had a few songs that was playable for the radio. I just hope on MSI's next album, that they will make it more underground material. Although this album had a lot of good songs, but songs like "Money," "Evening Wear," "Prescription," "Due," and "Bomb This track" were all radio playable songs. But every song on here was either just good or decent and a few classics. I'm just afraid this may be the last good MSI album before they go mainstream. I hope they don't flop on the next album. Heres my review, i'm just giving all the songs a quick rating, not really going to explain in detail on every song... Never Wanted To Dance 5/5 Stars Evening Wear 3/5 Stars (good but radio playable) Lights Out 4/5 Stars Prescription 3/5 Stars (good but radio playable) Issues 5/5 Stars Get It Up 4/5 Stars Revenge 4/5 Stars Animal 5/5 Stars Mastermind 5/5 Stars On It 5/5 Stars Pay For It 4/5 Stars (This song is actually good, Jimmy explains how he is never going to be perfect, and i like his honesty and humor on this song) Due 4/5 Stars (A lot better then I thought but still radio playable) Money 3/5 Stars (good but definitly a radio playable song just for reading the title of the track) Bomb This Track 3/5 Stars (good but radio playable) MDC 4/5 Stars (it is a good way to end the album) Overall this album is a great MSI LP, it just became more industryish. So I'm giving this album an honest 4 out of 5 Stars rating. If this was more underground material then this album would of been a full 5 Stars, but since I'm a hater of the music industry, and MSI made a few radio playable songs then its a 4 out of 5 Stars rating. Rating: - "If" is an almost perfect album.......if it weren't for Mark David Chapman. "If" is the newest and arguably the best MSI album. All the songs are very catchy... I mean, seriously, you will have them stuck in your head for DAYS. Like I said, the only track I frequently skip is the last one, Mark David Chapman. I like the song, chorus is great, I just find the Spanish speaking parts annoying and boring. It is really the only track that is not absolutely perfect on the CD. A lot of people are saying that this CD is bland, they get bored of it quick. Not for me. I have been listening to it constantly since I bought it about 3 or 4 weeks ago. It inspired me to go ahead and pick up "Frakenstein Girls" and "You'll Rebel to Anything". This has become one of my favorite albums and it introduced me to MSI. If you are new to MSI, I suggest you buy this album first. It really is spectacular. It is just the right weird and quirky to not weird and quirky ratio. I believe everyone could find something to like in this album. I just hope you have a sense of humor :)
