- CamcorderCanon VIXIA HV30 MiniDV High Definition Camcorder with 10x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom Excellent. Worth every penny spent. Rating: - Happy customerThe camera arrived 3 days before my schedule trip to Haiti, so I had a chance to read the manual and lear about the different functions. The learning curve was painless because the camera is very user friendly and the performance (video and still photo) quality were beyond my expectation. i used the camera during my trip to record a music video @ Grosse Roche Beach (St- Marc, Haiti). We spent 3 days shooting under different lighting conditions such as early morning at sunrise, mid afternoon and later sunset. I brought the tapes back to my editor in the US and we put together this fantastic music video "Twist & Shout" using final cut pro. The end result was almost as good as my previous music video " Poupe Kreyol" that was recorded using a $4000.00 Camera. Once again thumbs up to the HV30, easy to used and great video and pictures Rating: - Canon HV30 Camcorder The camera has been great so far, quite a big difference from a standard definition camcorder. However, the tape deck is quite loud when recording. Loud enough that I seriously considered sending it back, but I can't seem to find a camcorder that gets as good of reviews, and I think it is a similar issue with a lot of mini dv cams. However, my 3CCD Panasonic (PV-GS120) cam is not as loud. It also doesn't seem to pan out as far as my old camcorder, which is kind of annoying if you aren't in a very big space, i.e. living room. They have a lens you can buy to make it larger, (Canon WD-H43 0.7x Wide Angle Converter) but the reviews say it's the weight of the camera, so I rather wait till the technology improves to purchase something like that. One other issue I have found which I don't believe has too much to do with the camcorder but more with your home computer...transferring HD and editing on your computer takes a lot of processing power, so be prepared to be patient even if you have a decent computer! Rating: - HV30I am very pleased with the camera. I read some reviews suggesting the feel and build were not as good as Sony, but I think it is fine. It goes without saying that video quaility is great. Rating: - Read the Fine PrintI bought this camcorder specifically to record a conference I was hosting but then a buddy of mine, who is a professional videographer, offered to do it. I decided to return it even though I had not opened it. I always assume when I buy a product from Amazon that there is a 30 return policy and a full refund but to my suprise, Ace Photo & Digital, the company that sold me the camcorder through Amazon, said their return policy was only 10 days and there was a 10 percent restocking fee. They refused to budge even though I spoke to a manager and plead ignorance. So my suggestion is to make sure you check out the company you are buying your product from and read the fine print or else it will cost you a pretty penny.
