 - Great CDThis is one of those "The first time you hear it you LOVE it" CD's Rating: - Juno rocksA generous helping of Indie music & some old classics-refreshing & fun!As an old rock & roller, I was delighted to be introduced to Kimya Dawson, the Moldy Peaches, etc. Rating: - Juno SoundtrackI really enjoyed this CD. I would reccomend it to anyone thinking of buying it. Rating: - Great summer driving albumMy wife and I really enjoy the whimsical nature of this music. It's a nice break from what we're used to. If you insist on your music having only people with great singing voices, this album is probably not for you, though. The songs are catchy and the lyrics are interesting, but it's definitely not a "pop" or "top 40" album. Rating: - Great Expectations"Juno" is a quirky soundtrack for a quirky film. Oddly, one doesn't need the visuals to feast on the deliciousness of the Moldy Peaches. The soundtrack makes excellent ambient music (it's anti-folk),while at the same time the lyrics' strangeness holds your attention. There are selections from Buddy Holly, Belle&Sebastian, Cat Power, and Velvet Underground. It's wonderfully diverse, yet there's a seamless unity. Sonic Youth's "Superstar" is haunting and eerie. Kimya Dawson and the Moldy Peaches contribute a majority of the songs. There's the hilarious "Tire Swing" with its "you read all the books I recommended" and singable lyrics. "My Rollercoaster" is a bizarre rant,complete with expletives and an anti-Bush tirade. It's stream of consciousness. "Tree Hugger" is at once poignant and comical. Finally,there's the Ellen Page/Michael Cera duet of "Anyone else but you." It's touching and sweet. "Juno" is a soundtrack with something for everyone. It's quirky and offbeat. You'll want to say, "Silencio! I'm trying to listen" and not be interrupted by your hamburger phone.
