Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - My first Mac
This is a great machine, I couldn't be more pleased. Everything worked perfectly right out of the box and I was able to figure out how to use everything based on intuition alone. The only challenge is going to be resisting the temptation to join the hordes of "you MUST buy a Mac" people.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Can't beat a Mac
First computer I owned was an Apple 2e, then switched to PC's. Three years ago a friend let me use his 17" "Apple G4 laptop, after a couple hours I was sold. I gave my daughter my PC and got an Apple laptop. Last month my son decided he wanted the laptop, so I decided on the 24" iMac and it's a powerhouse. I don't experience any glare from the screen as some others have mentioned, it's by far the best computer I have ever owned. The packaged software / operating system Leopard 10.5 is amazing and the ever increasing freeware / shareware is jumping by leaps and bounds. I use my old firewire external drive to save individual files as handy backups along with a USB external drive to use for my TimeMachine scheduled system backups. The two USB ports on the keyboard are nice feature to plug camera, GPS, iPod etc when you want a access point for specific hardware purpose and then want to get rid of the cord clutter. Spaces is another great feature, I use 4 virtual desktops with my setup - one for Internet, one for email accounts, one for utilities and the last for photography. Going from desktop to desktop is just a mouse click or key stroke away. Great machine with an outstanding display and Apple's reputation and name standing behind the iMac is a homerun.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Bigger is Better! Go for the Gusto!
I think most everything great has been said about the new 24" iMac. I checked out all the reviews and was having trouble making up my mind.. go cheap and get a 20" or belly up to the bar go for the gusto of the new 24" iMac..

Well this time I went for the gusto and all I can say is "WOW" its faster than a speeding bullet(had an old g-4),takes up less space, no problem with glare here. Looks great on my desk, lights up the room, photo editing is a breeze..

You must be warned however, slide shows can be hypnotic and slows your production due to 3rd party interruptions!

When in doubt go for the gusto!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - My first experience.
My first encounter with any Apple product took place on July 2, 2008, when the iMac arrived at my front door in a skinny box weighing about 35 pounds. I followed the 3 steps in the set up book and hit the power button.

From there you just follow the on screen directions. You will be up and running in minutes. Music, photos and videos are quite easy to import, organize and share. Much easier to learn and use than my old Windows XP Pro. The Apple Web Site and each application has it's own help and detailed instructions. Search for documents, photos, etc. is very fast as is browsing the internet and emailing.

Leopard includes many useful and unique tools however there is no word processing included. There are office programs that can be downloaded from a number of sites, some at no charge.

Gate's people will have to start thinking and work long and hard to come up with something that is as good as the Apple iMac.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - iMac computer
I purchased an Apple iMac Desktop with 20" Display.
Within two weeks, the computer crashed and could not be started up. Apple Care referred me to a local Apple store for repair. Because I had not purchased the computer directly from Apple, Apple gave me a choice: Contact Amazon and return the computer, or leave it at the Apple store for two weeks for repair. If I had purchased the computer directly from Apple, they would have replaced the computer on the spot.
THIS WAS NOT AN AMAZON PROBLEM, it is an Apple policy problem and an Apple hardware problem. I wrote them about this unjust policy, but have not received a response from them.
The computer was repaired, however all information on the computer was subject to compromise while in the Apple store for repair.
Conclusion: I think this is an unfair policy by Apple....not only to me, but to Amazon. Amazon has always stood behind their products 100%. Apple could learn something from Amazon! I purchased the computer from Amazon because of a $75 rebate offer. In the future I would probably purchase the computer directly from Apple.
