- Very good but not as good as possibleI bought this unit as an upgrade because I own a Tom Tom 1 and it is a basic unit from Tom Tom and mine has a battery problem. The Nuvi is a better unit but not that much better for the additional money spent. The unit doesn't call out street names and is slow to aquire your current position if you have moved from where you last used it.Over all it does work well and you get what you pay for.It is a step up in proformance from the Tom Tom that I Had.I would buy the next model up from this if given the chance to do it over. Rating: - Just OK My device has some major problems acquiring satellites and directing me to some locations. I have been testing it in and around Southern New England (Central Connecticut, Central Mass.) and have had some significant problems. In one instance, for example, it could not find Auburn, Mass. -- a 16,000-person suburb of New England's second-largest city (Worcester) which is a main access site for the Mass. Turnpike. In addition, it sometimes takes 15 minutes or more -- and the occasional restart -- to acquire satellites in and around Hartford, Connecticut. I am not yet at the point where I feel comfortable relying solely on this GPS to get me somewhere, although once it's working it does seem -- usually -- to send me the right way. Rating: - Nuvi 350Pros - fastest satellite acquisition i have seen, route calculation, text to speech, car charger, windshield mount, free case, mp3 player Cons - Interface could be much better, most choices for driving choices cannot be requested to be displayed every time the route is calculated. Tolls are not informed during route calculation. 2009 maps are still not up-to-date in my neighborhood. Irritating factor - price fell down $50 since I purchased it ! Rating: - Excellent GPS for Point to Point navigation This is now a discontinued Garmin model. This means that they aren't being manufactured any longer, but Garmin will continue to provide support for this unit and a full mfg. warranty. Aside from the excellent reviews on this item, I have a couple things to add: This unit from Amazon.com now ships with 2009 map information, so save your money and DO NOT order an updated map package with it. It also ships with a leatherette protector, which is OK for use to slip it into a backpack, purse, or gargo pants pocket. Don't expect this little cover to protect against drops. It also includes the AC adapter, DC adapter, computer USB connector, the windshield suction cup and an adhesive disk if you want to put this on the dash. As is noted in other reviews, this unit will only plot a course from one point to another with the allowance to enter a mid point to the current route. Don't purchase this if you want routing options of multiple waypoints. There are so many good reviews here, that I don't feel the need to write any more than the above few notes. Happy navigating, Rating: - No more getting lostLife saver. Took me a year to try it out after getting it for a gift. Now never go on extended trip without it. Just got back from Orange County,Ca & could never have found places without it. Very easy to use ... absolutely no complaints.
