 - A Documentary that is as satisfying as any Movie!First, in my opinion, Ken Burns is 'THE' master of making documentaries! I have viewed many of his works, and this one would easily make my "Best Documentary List" top 5. He crafts his stories so well that it almost has the feel of a movie - you don't realize you're watching history - and I can't remember many documentaries that give you a lump in your throat, at the end, and almost bring you to tears as this one does. This extraordinary chronicle of Lewis and Clark's exploration/adventure is 4 hours long (divided onto two discs). My family and I watched it over a two night period with no inconveniences (except wishing we had more time the first night!). A+ to Ken Burns! Thanks, and keep up the GREAT work! Rating: - Lewis and Clark and Ken Burns -- It's Like He Was with Them!After reading Stephen Ambrose's "Undaunted Courage," I saw this beautiful Ken Burns documentary on PBS and had to have my own copy. As is everything Burns does, this 4-hour DVD is stunningly realized -- fine research, outstanding videography (even the still shots seem to move), and expert narration by Hal Holbrook. One of the great stories in American history, no other Lewis and Clark program I've seen even comes close to this! History at its very best. Rating:  - Sorty of Lewis & Calrk on DVDVery informative and well presented. As documentaries go, it keeps your interest. Rating: - Beautiful Scenery of the American WestBreathtaking cinematography of the American West, really helps you see the journey as the Corps of Discovery would have. Provides insight into the troubled character of Lewis. Made me curious to learn more about Native Americans. Was saddening to see how good relations initially were between the explorers and the Indians, the good faith, compared to the strife and mistrust that prevailed later. Enjoyed following along with a map as the film progressed. Jefferson estimated it would take Americans 100 generations to settle the West--they did it in five. Rating: - must watcha beautiful crafted account of one of america's most important pieces of history.terrific narration with a soundtrack to die for.documentary making at its absolute best!
