- Can't... stop... listeningI'm late to the party, having never watched The OC. I first heard the clip of "Hide and Seek" that The OC used in Saturday Night Live's hysterical "Death by Chocolate" sketch a couple months ago. As hard as I laughed at the sketch, I was still haunted by the beauty of the song and had to find out who it was. I got this CD a few days ago and it has only briefly left the player. After short metal breaks (my usual genre of choice...), this CD goes right back in. It's innovative, amazing, lush and layered. It reminds me of Kate Bush or even Tori Amos. The raw emotion conveyed is really contagious, and makes the CD a wonderful trip. Rating: - Kayla's ReviewI think that this CD was absolutely WONDERFUL! I tell anyone who will listen about it. LOVE IT!Speak for Yourself Rating: - Passion and sacrifice!Given that Imogen Heap mortgaged her flat to fund the creation of this album, and subsequently wrote and produced the whole thing all by herself, it's no wonder that the result is an astonishing work of exquisitely crafted excellence. It would have to be, as few people would be willing to put so much on the line without a tremendous amount of confidence in the vision they sought to make reality. After the first listen it's apparent that her gamble was well worth it. If music from the 80's were redone in light of modern electronic music, this is what well might result. While totally unique in its own right, this music is similar to Tracey Thorn's latest album Out of the Woods Rating: - Frou FrouWhat a talent! Imogen Heap is extrodinary in her musicianship, lyrics and vocals. This is NOT your typical radio drivel. This is art and I can't stop playing this CD. It's ripped to my laptop, my desk top and it's in the CD player in my studio. Rating: - Beautiful AlbumNot much to say here. I love this album. Beautiful melodies. Totally unique production. You will start to here a ton of Imogen rip-offs in the coming years.
