- Excellent CD for longstanding JB fansIf like me you have been a fan of Jackson Browne for many years, you simply must purchase this CD. Not only does it have new versions of some of his old classics, it also includes a few of his more obscure tunes that are very enjoyable to listen to as well. I cannot even begin to guess how many times my wife and I have played this CD since I bought it; it's simply fantastic. Rating: - Just PerfectPERFECT for Jackson Browne fans and others that love acoustic arrangements. Browne was critically noted as not the strongest voice but on this he sounds fantastic. The guitar sound on this is INCREDIBLE! I don't know technically what makes great sound or not, but my compliments to the engineer. In essence, what you are hearing is Jackson Browne at his best! "Everyman" is so clear and the stripped down, slightly slower version allows you to really focus on the words. To me, "Barricades of Heaven" is how I identify Jackson Browne. I made an acoustics player listen to it and he had not heard the song. Frankly, this may be his best. Don't tell Jackson but I'm not as much a fan of his political songs and they are on here because they mean so much to him. I respect that and enjoy them but it's not the highlight of his album. Having read a biography of him it was noted that his stage banter was weak. Not at this show. He is funny and engaging discussing missing lyrics as he sings. If you want a singer/songwriter acoustic masterpiece, buy this and listen repeatedly. Simply brillant! Rating: - Where's Vol. 2??I had the pleasure of seeing this show "live" when he dared to bring it into a really conservative hotbed in Escondido. The show was outstanding, even with the handful of annoyed conservatives grousing out loud to "Just sing" and other odd comments. Jackson Browne has been a liberal activist/performer for over 30 years now - how this escaped so many folks is some mystery. The music is simply outstanding in its simple arrangement, and the commentary is, well, who the man is. For true fans it's great stuff. I hope volume 2 has a couple of Zevon tunes on it - as he "covered" several of these in the aftermath of the Excitable boy's untimely passing. Rating: - up front and personalJackson Browne has contributed so much both as a political voice and a song writer. These acoustic gems are not all the usual songs he is most associated with. But they are definitely great examples of his sensitivity to the subject matter which he writes about and his warmth he exudes on stage with his audience. Although it would not be my first recommendation to someone who is unfamiliar with his music, it is still a very good body of work to have in your collection if you find yourself as moved as I am by his prose. Rating: - Great to hear Jackson againI didn't even know JB was still around! I purchased this CD and was so happy with it, I sent one off to my brother. He sings some of his famous songs and mixed in between is hilarious commentary on life, the road, the songs, women. I love this CD.
