- A bit dissapointing.I bought this box set to give this series a second chance. Unfortunately, I found the series as dissapointing as I had when I was a child watching this on television. The show is quite funny, has Zelda for the most part being the boomerang-wielding heroine, though it isn't very serious as it is known the target audience is 6-9 year olds. The only reason I would recommend against this purchase is for the shows portrayl of Link. As a child playing the Legend of Zelda on the old NES system, it was unplesant to see our "Legendary Green Hatted Hero" as a semi plump, snort laughing, perverse womanizer with the tagline "Excuse me, Princess!" This is a great buy if you're looking for some laughs and nostalgia, but if you're a hard core Zelda fan who has never seen this, and expect it to be a serious action show, you'll be in for a huge dissapointment. Rating: - Well, excuuuuse me, Princess! This is easily my favorite cartoon series based on a video game. It set the bar ridiculously high for cartoons of its time with its unforgettable characters, well-written episodes, and witty dialogue. Of course the running joke in the show is the main character Link's failed attempts to get Princess Zelda to kiss him after which he always replies: "Well, excuuuuse me, Princess! (a twist on the old Steve Martin stand-up line: "Well, excuse me!" This show is great. I recently turned on my young nephew to the show and he can't get enough of it. Too bad The Legend of Zelda was cancled after only one season. This show had alot of years left in it. This cartoon, more than any other, makes me mourn the fact that I can't find cartoons on T.V. today that are as well put together and entertaining as The Legend of Zelda. At least I'll always have this gem in my collection to relive those fond memories of when cartoons were more than the sum of their parts! The Legend of Zelda lives on! Rating: - it is as i remember it... wish it was longerI remember this when i was a kid, loved it but it was way too short. I read a lot of the 1-3 star, people have to remember in the 80's a lot of corney cartoons were made like Mario, Q-bert, Donkey Kong, and a lot of weired stuff. what i recall of the 80's there was a lot of weird stuff that when you look back at it now looks stupied like the orginal Turtles cartoon, i still love it for the memories but it still looks cheesy in todays standerds. This was actualy one of the better nintendo series that actualy was closer to the game then any of the other shows, like super mario super show, really had nothing to do with the game except for the characters. while this is set in Hyrule and they stay in Hyrule. and who says link is not a lil punk lol the old game he never talks, actualy the only thing that talks is the shops and zelda when you save her. I can actualy pictuer link being a punk, he does seem to kill every thing rather easy. i say every one should get this but remember it was made in a era when games really had no real story in game play and the cartoon sorta tries to jump off at a temp of a story, and creativeness for cartoons was very short. Rating: - The Cartoon was OKThe cartoon was just ok, nowhere close to the games though. Someone has to put up some heavy greenbacks and make a live action Zelda movie, though they would have to do it right with extremely high production values along the lines of Lord Of The Rings or The 1st and only real Never Ending Story film. It could work. Rating: - Ugh.Boy, Bill & Ted must have written the script for this stoner version of Link and Zelda. It's very grating; the stories are weak, and the animation is pretty basic. Link sounds like he's just hopped off a surfboard in the late 1980s. I shouldn't have expected too much, I suppose.
