Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Halo 18 . . . buy it . . . because you have to.
I want to cry out in anguish "why Trent? Why?" -- I want to, but I won't -- the reviews for this CD already have enough melodrama, so I'll spare you.

Hand that feeds is one of the best songs on WITH TEETH - it has a lot of remix as well as just plain REPLAY potential. Despite this fact, this CD is, as many people have pointed out, one of Trent's worst singles. There are remixes on the CD, but, as someone already pointed out, it is not really meant to be a remix album. All this being said, this disc greatly reflects what happens when Trent lets a millimeter of creative control out of his grasp (which is odd, because he's a control freak) . . . it becomes an RIAA clone . . .

So why does it deserve 3 stars? It's still better than most other things available, and it's part of the "official collection", so you really have to buy it if you're at all compulsive (let's face it, if you're really a NIN fan, you're compulsive, and probably obsessive too, but I won't get into that).

The packaging is very well done, as is the arrangement of this specific CD (technically). If you're planning on buying this halo (Google NIN HALO) buy this one; the video on the disc will minimize the feeling of being ripped off.

The Video - very plain for NIN, but well done. It looks like a patchy, thrown-together work at first, but on closer examination, you will find this is not the case. You may notice that the "distortion" is not digital noise or breakdown, but intentional, for whatever reason. (similar to "Hurt" from "The Downward Spiral")

This CD is definitely a "Collection Completer"; if you must collect each unique Halo, buy the 4-track disc with the video, even if it won't make your top 100 songs.

If you have to pick and choose because you don't have the cash, skip this one until you feel it necessary to complete your collection.

If you feel that NIN peaked at Pretty Hate Machine or Downward Spiral . . . well, you're stuck in a bubble, you probably shouldn't keep listening to new NIN discs, because you're not going to like them.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Terrible
This CD contains: 2 long remixes of The Hand That Feeds, the orginal song, and the music video.

The two remixes on this CD sound exactly the same and aren't all that good. It comes with the orginal version of the song "The Hand That Feeds" and also the music video (but in terrible quality). So you're basically buying 1 bad remix.

This is one of the worst NIN remix CDs I've ever heard. If you're not a hardcore fan (meaning, you don't own every Halo) then don't waste your time with this CD.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - I enjoy the remixes better than the actual song...
This song should have been more house oriented in the first place. Although the original isnt bad, Photek funked it up.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - The Hand that feeds
I think that this is a interisting single. Although It didnt score a 5 I think people should check it out. It is more of a dance remix instead of a rock remix.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - I think it's solid.
Remember all that garbage social music you've heard for years now? Please let it go. Don't call that music 'pop music', call it 'Disney Dollars'.

What do I mean? I might know...

I've been a NIN fan all the long. Trent's certain breed of music has always had a bitter aftertaste. I think there's a point there.

Let's talk about 'The Hand That Feeds'. Musicaly, any other time than now, this would be wrong. I thought a long time ago that once computer screen resolutions where so high that no normal person could see individual pixels... at that time, at this time... the mosiac effect is effective artisticaly. So, that in mind along with what everybody really has noticed these last 10 years... 'The Hand That Feeds' is the best song I've heard in a long time. ...and it's all done in that walking talk the talk in NIN style; acceptable now for a social setting.

The lyrics in 'The Hand That Feeds' has the most clever double meaning contained in there. I don't think anybody is catching it.

So, I'm a little disturbed that everybody misses the point. If this isn't an original song... what is? I wonder what the kids would say to answer that question? Maybe something about Incubus or... uh... Jay Z...

Lastly, if you don't know who Photek is... You probably won't get the remixes. You don't listen to something extendedly titled [Dub Mix] and be disgusted when it's the type of thing to play in club that's not too busy playing irresponsible dry-hump music that has spoken lyrics about killing gangstas. Yeeeaaah!

Nobody wants to change it.
