- Unplugged PlayI bought 3 copies of this book - one for me and the other two for my daughter and daughter-in-law. Two of my grandchildren are 16 months and 26 months, so they are the perfect ages for the younger activities in the novel. One day, looking forward to a night of babysitting my grandson, I decided to check the book to find something to do with him and chose one of the activities using a cardboard tube and golf-size whiffle balls. All I can say is he LOVED it! My husband and I found many variations for this activity and kept our grandson totally involved for about 20 minutes at one sitting and later he went back to it a few more times. This book is wonderful for parents and grandparents to find fun, educational and inexpensive activities to do with children ages 1 - 10. Rating: - Perfect gift for a new momI gave it as the Christmas gift to my sister-in-law. Her daugher is just one year old and starts to be running around, hard to please and loves to watch TV. She is very frustrated with the situation. Since she is the first mom in our generation, none of us can help her too much. I do not know how well the book will help her, but at least she is very happy when she got the book. Rating: - Every mom needs one!Great investment! I have given this as a gift. Any mom who has a toddler or preschooler knows that its important to have resources available to keep them busy. As a previous Kindergarten teacher before motherhood, great activities! Rating: - Wonderful book!!!My husband and I are thrilled to have this book!! We have a toddler, a preschooler - and 2 newborns! It's important for us that our small children play (and not watch t.v.) while we take care of the babies. This book is the perfect tool. There are so many wonderful play ideas for each age that are simple and fun and they require things that you would have around the house. It's a terrific way to encourage imaginative and creative play. We like this book so much, we will be buying them as gifts for our friends with small children! Rating: - Unplugged PlayThis book is full of so many creative ideas for playing with my children. Some of the games I remember from childhood. I am so excited to teach my children things that they will think of and smile about in 20 years. I love the way this book is organized. It begins with a great introduction and explanation of why children need play that stimulates (rather than siezes) their minds. The games and activities are organized into age appropriate sections and begin with the youngest children. (I loved this feature as we have an infant and a toddler). There are also ideas for individual play, parent and child play, single child play, indoor play, outdoor play and group play. I know this is a book that we will use for years to come!
