Drawing standout reviews from dance press and websites around the world, The Thrillseekers' capacity for intuitive track selection & super-fluid mixing has been brilliantly born out on the discs of Nightmusic. Prior to the release of `Night Music Vol 1', The Thrillseekers' name was synonymous with two things. The hit Synaesthesia (`Fly Away') which went Top 20 in the UK and has gone on to sell in excess of 300,000 units, securing its place as one of the most enduring Trance records of all time. Equally, Steve `Thrillseekers' Helstrip is renowned for his high-profile remixes, including revamps for Tiƫsto, Armin, Ferry Corsten and Chicane. In 2000 He has also reworked Sonique's `Feels So Good' into a worldwide, # 1 smash. The first 2 volumes of Niightmusic have sold in excess of 50,000 copies and with Volume 3, he ups the ante in everyway, bringing together a superbly mixed, cutting edge EDM selection. The Concept of Disc One (Fast Forward} casts the farthest reaching view possible into new, upfront dance music. The mix is diverse, imaginative and features the new Thrillseekers single. Disc Two (Rewind) reverses the direction and looks back at the underground anthems that have dominated `Seekers' sets over the last year. The disc ultimately will become the yearbook of the music that's come to encapsulate Steve's unique, floor-rocking sound. ![]() Rating: - Supreme Trance!I'm convinced that when Steve Helstrip did Vol. 1, his intention was to shake up the global Trance scene and leave the biggest mark possible. Not only did he do that, but he's also been building up steam and getting better with each NightMusic release that followed. Even the album art of all three are as great as the music inside. This one has even more of the sound that I've always been into (especially that PVD-esque beat-skip in Miracle Cure at the 2:55 point). To me it's one of the best Trance ... Definitely the best of 2008 so far. CD1 is where the really amazing stuff is, but the ironic thing is the weakest track on CD1 is the first song. There are many styles of Trance on the first CD, and they are all blended together flawlessly...Trance, ProgressiveTrance, TranceElectro, and some of the harder-edged Trance. That is what amazed me so much about the first CD, I did not want that CD ... Read More Rating: - Steve Helstrip Does It Again!I am a big fan of the Nightmusic series. Nightmusic vol 1 still and will always be my favorite and all-time best trance album (or any album for that matter!). Although I say 5 stars to all 3 of the series, I say this one has a place between 1 and 2. 2 was awesome non-the-less, but there are just some really strong tracks on this album that gives it an extra edge over Nightmusic 2. Another thing I love about the Nightmusic series is how well Helstrip blends the tracks together. They make his albums into ... Read More Rating: - Very Good compilation! The previous reviewer didn't seem to understand that the second disc was supposed to have older tracks on, that was Steve Hillstrip's intention. Beautifully mixed and compiled. Overall a better release than Nightmusic Vol 2, although it had some screamingley good tracks on. Thise edition has a more vocal direction to it which i personally have taken a liking too having heard the release more than once. It is definitley a release which grows on you. Tracks i recomend are: The Last Time ... Read More Rating: - all these songs are old and on other CDs by nowAll these songs have been out for a bit and on other (better) CDs. If you want the good stuff, check out Markus Schulz (good new release - Amsterdam08); Gabriel & Dresden; Cosmic Gate (great new release - Back 2 Back 3); Tiesto (great new - In Search of Sunrise 7); Above & Beyond. Granted, there's always some crossover in compilation CDs. It's inevitable but come on now! Get the listed CDs above for the best of today. |
