Imagine the lovechild of an unholy marriage between The Stooges and Tommy James And The Shondells. Imagine the track, "Mother Mary," leaking out and amazingly going Top 20 Modern Rock. Imagine the mysterious "new" band then deciding to release an EP for free on the Internet. Now imagine a full-length albuman actual album you can hold in your hands, just like way back before the dawn of the new millennium! Imagine Foxboro Hottubs and the album Stop Drop And Roll. Album Description: Kerplunk! Californian quintet Foxboro Hottubs are poised to release their debut album 'Stop Drop And Roll!!!' on May 19th on Reprise. The album, also released on vinyl by Jingle Town Records, features the Billboard hit single 'Mother Mary'. 'Stop Drop And Roll!!!' features Foxboro Hottubs' energised hybrid of garage, rock 'n' roll and melodic punk that's reminiscent of cult bands such as The Network and Pinhead Gunpowder. The album includes the band's debut single 'Mother Mary' that hit the Top 20 of the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks amidst frenzied comparisons with a certain hugely successful rock band. Foxboro Hottubs aren't part of a redneck agenda; their adrenalised sound is equally reminsicent of classic sixties rock on the stomping 'Ruby Room', retro power-pop on 'The Pedestrian' (sample lyric: "It doesn't take a genius to be an idiot") and the furious garage rock of the title-track. Consisting of Jason White, Jason Freese, Michael Pritchard, Frank Edwin Wright III and the Reverend Strychnine Twitch, the band stated, "We are four guys who love to play music and be spontaneous. After a few late night jams and a few too many bottles of wine, we were inspired to record some rockin' eight-track recordings." The band's name is explained simply: "The Foxboro Hottubs were a place we used to sneak booze and chicks into late at night. But most of the time it was just 'dude soup'." Average Rating:
![]() Rating: - The Album Between AlbumsReal Green Day fans (you know who you are) should like this little excursion, while we wait for the follow up to American Idiot. THAT is the album everyone is waiting for! Nothing ground breaking here, but a nice collection of Green Day material. Fans will want it for their collection. Rating: - Not Badthe disk itself wasnt scratched, it was actually in great condition. the only problem i had was that because the carboard cd case wasnt wrapped in plastic or some other protective covering, the heat made the packaging stick to the cardboard, tearing it upon opening Rating: - Well, okay then!So there is this "new" band that put out an album with an oh so familiar voice. And, yeah know what, it's pretty darn good... Who'd a thunk? BUT This still doesn't take the pressure off the boys to produce another authentic Green Day album like they promised! Get busy boys, your fans are waiting!!! Rating: - FoxBoro Hot Tubs - Stop Drop and Roll...Awesome CD. I'm a big Green Day fan, and anything by Billy Joe Armstrong. This is a great CD - highly recommended for all Green Day fans. Rating: - LOVE!Absolutely love this release, as I do with almost anything released by Green Day or Billie Joe. Got the cd in the mail sooner than I expected & within seconds, it was in my player & blasting out of my speakers. Cannot quit replaying "Pedestrian" and my kids have the "ba ba ba" part of Mother Mary down to a science. They sing along quite well to "American Idiot," "Jesus of Suburbia," "Castaway" & "Deadbeat Holiday"....so they are true fans in the making as well. So all this to say, FBHT, aka Green ... Read More |
