I'm finding that it has a lot more staying power for me than most albums seem to, due in large part to the narrative strain that runs through it as much as the genre-blending music itself. Read More Rating: - GroundbreakingMMJ has broken new ground with this album. It is difficult to describe the sound they have captured on this album... sort of like early Prince/MMJ hybrid. They bring a lot of funk and energy on almost every track, and have pretty much eliminated the heavy reverb on the vocals (Which was getting a little old IMO). I still like the old MMJ sound, but this album is loaded with creativity and groundbreaking/genre-blending music. Rating: - Fantastic album! This is a great album, and with every listen, it just gets better. I can't get these songs out of my head! Versatile, with lots of different sounds.. I hear some Ween, some Beach Boys... a little bit of everything. This album has made My Morning Jacket one of my favorite bands!
