Editorial Review:

Product Description:
Recorded in Berlin, Los Angeles and Paris, Jim takes even further what was started with Multiply, finding the balance between the spontaneous
creativity of his raw ideas and the careful craft and polish of a great record. Jim will switch you on in the morning, move you on the dance-floor and take you down in the small hours. It s a bold, promiscuously diverse album, mixing up gospel grooves, sweetly sung and fiercely passionate
soul, delicately moving ballads, thumping early R & B, synthed-up disco,
and even a touch of hillbilly funk. I haven t tried to hide the influences,
says Jamie Lidell ''This is the music I love.'' But, listen closely and you can
hear Jamie moving in new directions, creating a sound and style that is
entirely his own.

Album Description:
British experimental-techno funketeer Jamie Lidell made a name for himself giving mesmerising live multi-media performances in which the singer continually looped his own effects-laden vocals and beat boxing until a dense sonic landscape emerged. However, Lidell switched gears in 2005, releasing MULTIPLY, a more traditional Prince-inspired pop album steeped in classic funk and R&B, and marked by Lidell's confident and refreshingly irony-free performances. In addition to his solo work, Lidell is well-known for his collaborations with Christian Vogel as the duo SuperCollider.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A little mo' Motown
Jamie Lidell is one of those artist that broke into a little bit of mainstream by being used in an episode of Grey's Anatomy. His last album Multiply was an absolute piece of art. It evoked the spirit of old time funk, a little motown, and rock and roll. This album is surely focused a little more on Motown. Jim is more polished a lot softer and happier. These songs could have easily been from a past time period. The songs are well written and very well performed. Any fan of Motown would surely ... Read More

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Pleasantly surprised!
I bought the CD after hearing only one of the songs. I figured the rest of the CD probably wasn't as good but I was wrong! They are all good songs and my family and I are really enjoying them. Even my kids (10 and 7) like them!

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Soulful Star
After hearing one track from JIM, I took a chance and bought the CD....no regrets. From the moment I put it into my CD player, his soulful melodies and amazing voice threw me back to an early Stevie Wonder. I was playing it in the background at a party, and everyone was asking about it was because he was so awesome. A few songs sound a bit similar, but I still recommend this CD.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Time Warped British Blue Eyed Soul
This CD is a whole lot more than "A Little Bit of Feel Good," which is not only getting a lot of radio-play, but also appeared on both "NCIS" and "Grey's Anatomy" in the past few weeks. Though Jamie Lidell's a British bloke, he's got a voice straight out of the 1960's South. He's been likened to everyone from Marvin Gaye to Sam Cooke. My understanding is Lidell came from techno, but I have no experience with his previous music--but you better believe I'm going to check it out!

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Good intentions - bad idea
I love Jamie Lidell. I've listened to Multiply more times than I can count, I've seen the dude live many times and he's always been amazing. That's why it's such a bummer to see him go the cheese route. I don't think it's intentional -- I think the guy just enjoys singing and wants to tour with a live band. But this album is just not the right vehicle for that. On Jim, he's lost all the playful energy and earnestness that came out of his past work, and replaced it with polished corniness. I used to defend ... Read More
