The strap for carrying the camera should be used all the time because it can easily slip out of hand without it. My first CoolPix had a strap that was long enough to carry around the neck. Read More Rating: - very good cameraA very good point and shoot camera. I have had several different Nikons cameras and I have enjoyed them all. This one takes really high quality pictures. The menu system is a little different than my Nikon L5 but I am able to adapt. So far the battery has been able to meet my needs. I may have to buy a second battery when I take it on travel.
