New York City detective John McClane (Bruce Willis) delivers old-school justice to a new breed of terrorists when a massive computer attack on the U.S. infrastructure threatens to shut down the entire country over Independence Day weekend. System Requirements:Run time: 130 minutesFormat: BLU-RAY DISC Genre: ACTION/ADVENTURE/POLICE & DETECTIVE FILMS Rating: PG-13 UPC: 024543476368 Manufacturer No: 2247636 Amazon.com: Twelve years after Die Hard with a Vengeance, the third and previous film in the Die Hard franchise, Live Free or Die Hard finds John McClane (Bruce Willis) a few years older, not any happier, and just as kick-ass as ever. Right after he has a fight with his college-age daughter (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), a call comes in to pick up a hacker (Justin Long, a.k.a. the "Apple guy") who might help the FBI learn something about a brief security blip in their systems. Now any Die Hard fan knows that this is when the assassins with foreign accents and high-powered weaponry show up, telling McClane that once again he's stumbled into an assignment that's anything but routine. Once that wreckage has cleared, it is revealed that the hacker is only one of many hackers who are being targeted for extermination after they helped set up a "fire sale," a three-pronged cyberattack designed to bring down the entire country by crippling its transportation, finances, and utilities. That plan is now being put into action by a mysterious team (Timothy Olyphant, Deadwood, and Maggie Q, Mission: Impossible 3) that seems to be operating under the government's noses. Live Free or Die Hard uses some of the cat-and-mouse elements of Die Hard with a Vengeance along with some of the pick-'em-off-one-by-one elements of the now-classic original movie. And it's the most consistently enjoyable installment of the franchise since the original, with eye-popping stunts (directed by Len Wiseman of the Underworld franchise), good humor, and Willis's ability to toss off a quip while barely alive. There was some controversy over the film's PG-13 rating--there might be less blood than usual, and McClane's famous tag line is somewhat obscured--but there's still has plenty of action and a high body count. ![]() Rating: - ACTION-PACKED, FANTASTIC!I have been a DIE HARD fan since the movies were first released and I was thrilled to see yet another DIE HARD flick, this one being, in my opinion, the best yet. I saw the blu-ray version and was very impressed with the hi-def video images, which were clear and crisp. Sound was equally impressive and the movie was action-packed from start to finish. If you are a Bruce Willis and/or a Die Hard fan, you should find this movie to be thoroughly enjoyable. Rating: - wow, now THAT'S what I call action!I've never been a big Bruce Willis fan, but my goodness, does he ever deliver in this one. From beginning to end, you get the right amount of suspense, action, and nonstop excitement. Lots of creative ways the bad guys die too, such as Bruce driving a truck through an elevator and watching them fall from way up high. You get plenty of action scenes like those throughout the film. The shooting segments were very well done, and the helicopter scenes involving even MORE ... Read More Rating: - Live Free or Die HardI loved this movie, saw it at the theatre and enjoyed the fast paced action and the way the title character has not changed his attitude. The supporting cast were believable and the action sequences well filmed. Storyline was also fast paced and there was no down time at all it was like the others just go, go, go. Four stars from me. Rating: - McClane-Palin in 2008I miss the good old days of action flicks when they were helmed by great directors like McTiernan, Cameron, and Harlan and you had average Joes like Bruce, Arnold, and Sly saving the world. Everything today is so CGI. About the only actor today that meets the standards of yesteryear is Jason Statham. The latest installment of "Die Hard" has it's cake and eats it too. For sure there's alot of CGI but Willis makes you believe that he's getting his butt kicked by a Harrier. The story combines post ... Read More Rating: - Unnecessary Sequel!!I really wish they'd stop making sequels of movies from long ago. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning, Clerks II, Rambo, Rocky Balboa, Hannibal Rising, etc. It's nice to relive those old movies as they were and let the characters fade into the legendary status they deserve. By coming out with yet another movie N years later, you might get excited about it (Hulk comes to mind, as does Spider-Man). But unlike those decently made films, Live Free Or Die Hard is a great example of keeping the classics ... Read More |
