Binding: Audio CDEAN: 0094639268429 Label: Six Step Records Manufacturer: Six Step Records MPN: 92684 Number Of Discs: 1 Publisher: Six Step Records Release Date: September 25, 2007 Studio: Six Step Records Editorial Review: Amazon.com: The cruel joke about contemporary Christian music for years has been that the recipe for successful CCM is to take a neutered form of some "alternative" rock from ten years ago, replace the word "baby" with "Jesus" and there you go--please do not forget to pick up your Dove award on your way out the door! At first, this seems to be the case with the David Crowder Band's new album, Remedy. "Can You Feel It," after all, sounds like tepid alt-y dance-pop with "edgy" distorted vocals, while "Everything Glorious" sounds like James Blount throwing off another adult contemporary snoozer while playing Pac Man. Thankfully, it's an eclectic release. Crowder's adept at mixing and matching genres, as anyone who's listened to his bluegrass-flavored A Collision--or its even rootsier follow-up, B Collision--will attest. Remedy sounds like a strange mix tape, but there is undeniable passion and skill at work here. Crowder, who's affiliated with the Praise & Worship movement, really knows how to write rousing anthems, even when making dubious production choices. --Mike McGonigal Average Rating:
![]() Rating: - Great, but not quite "A Collision"Funny, but maybe it takes time for each DC*B release to become my favorite as I didn't love "A Collision" compared to "Illuminate" and I don't love "Remedy" compared to "A Collision", yet. Certainly some songs standout on "Remedy" like "Never Let Go", "Surely We Can Change", "Can You Feel It", "The Glory Of It All" and "Everything Glorious". Another gem by DC*B. I'm guessing in another few months this will be my favorite. Rating: - An Amazing ExperienceFirst, I'd like to establish that I have listened to a broad range of music growing up as a classical violinist and pianist. I have listened to all types of "classical" music, world music, secular music through the ages, hip hop, independent artists. I know a lot about music and there is not a song on this album I don't love. At first I was surprised that this album didn't create a greater applause but understand why now. The vocal style is more 80's rock, not clear and pretty but emotional ... The band sound brings a jittery delivery that does not engender worship. In years to come we will look around and people will say, David Crowder - who? Some of the songs will endure, but only when redone in a truly worshipful style. Rating: - A Solid Praise Album'Remedy' is a well done CD with several good praise songs. There are few standout tracks, but none are bad either. The best song is 'Everything Glorious'. Perhaps my expectations were too high after his album 'A Collision', but this one just does not seem that impressive to me. It is really pretty average. For anyone who is not familiar with this group, I would definitely recommend their album, A Collision. It is a 'must have' for any Christian music fan. Rating: - The best DC*B album yetThe songs of this project point to God as the Remedy this world desperately needs. The lyrics are honest and heartfelt petitions to the Creator in the face of hardship. DC*B experienced tragedy in the death of their pastor and this recording is a testament to the healing power of the cross. Many of the tracks give a voice to feelings of sadness and frustration while simultaneosly reaffirming faith in the sovereign power of God. Only an artist with the heart of David could accomplish ...
