 Rating:  - A huge step up from el-cheapo compact camera tripodI picked this tripod over the 190 series because I'm 6 feet tall and didn't want to hunch over the shorter 190 series. (Remember that the head also adds some height to the final camera height!) The legs release with latches, which is so much better than screws. The center column does feel a little light, but had no problem with my Canon XSi with kit lens. I've recommended this to my brother-in-law who has a Canon 40D with kit lens. He tried to mount his camera on a cheapo compact camera tripod ... Read More Rating: - nice but heavyVery nice tripod but it is heavy. It is also quite long and won't fit on a backpack. Other than that it is fine for doing macro shots of flowers right on the ground. Of course, if you're looking for a light tripod, then go for the carbon fiber line of products (and shell out 2-3 times as much as this Manfrotto). The only other "negative" aspect of this tripod is in relation to the center column. I guard my remarks because each and every single tripod I own (even $800+ carbon fiber legs) ... Read More Rating: - Solid and reliableCost me $90 in 2006. Not sure if still is a bargain now. It doesn't go to the ground like some, not extra light weight, not extra short when fully folded, plain old aluminum tubes, no level indicator, nothing fancy. But this set is firm and solid and easy to use. My heaviest setup is 40D with rip + Sigma 170-500, the leg has no problem. Rating: - solidThis is a nice solid tripod. It isn't as easy to change the bar to the horizontal position as I like and is a little on the heavy side. But it is rock solid. |
