 Rating:  - Gypsy SnoozeThis CD has a lot of very positive, intelligently written reviews, and it's kind of hard for me to imagine that they're about the CD I bought, which is the oddest and least interesting take on Roma music I've ever heard. Roma musicians have always tended to take on some aspects of local music, and it's possible that's the case here (a couple of the cuts have some distant - very distant - similarity to klezmer music). I LOVE this!I have been listening to the sample clips of this CD, and ordered it from amazon within 2 minutes! This music is simply intoxicating!...its a clever and highly creative arrangement of music,by some of the most musically gifted people on the planet. Rating: - Danc-al-scious!This collection is fantastico. It gets me toes jumpin' all the day. If you like the gypsy thing and want to get the house down - buy it. Rating: - groovy!I work at a bookstore and we get a lot of free promotional copies. The other day I picked this cd up and was blown away! We played it in store and when the first song came on, people were dancing and tapping their toes in the aisles. These rustic songs take you to another world and are upbeat and fun. I want to own many more putumayo cds thanks to gypsy groove. This is a wonderful collection of songs and I recommend this cd to anybody who enjoys world music, or music in general. |
