Editorial Review:

Amazon.com:
When an indie-rock band as intimately and fiercely loved as Death Cab for Cutie makes the inevitable major-label jump, it often telegraphs a painful death. Witness Husker Du, the Replacements, Nirvana--hell, even R.E.M. After a successful four-album run on tiny Seattle imprint Barsuk, however, Death Cab for Cutie just might buck the trend on its Atlantic premiere. Yes, you can grumble about the production (a little too slick), the proportion of ballads (a little too many) and the overall feeling of restraint (a little too much), but ultimately the album delivers everything the group does best in emotional, experimental songs such as "What Sarah Said" and "I Will Follow You into the Dark," which both blend stark lyrical details with acoustic guitars and soft-focus electronics. In "Soul Meets Body," meanwhile, songwriter Ben Gibbard has come up with the kind of blissful, beatific pop song that's capable of disarming even the harshest skeptic. "A melody softly soaring through my atmosphere," he sings. --Aidin Vaziri

Average Rating: out of 5 stars

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great CD
They have a folksy sound and they know how to make you want to listen. Very good music. They're not the Beatles, but then who is. It's well worth the money.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A Good Indie-Rock Listen
Plans by Death Cab For Cutie is a strange album. It's very melodic, acoustic, and indie, and every song on this album makes a great lullaby. I bought this album last summer and was impressed with every chord, every beat, and every note they played. Ben Gibbard's vocals combined with Chris Walla, Nicholas Harmer, and Jason McGerr's skilled playing make this a must-have album for any indie-rock fan.

This song has absolutely no vulgar language or profanities, or even sketchy references. ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Not Transatlanticism but may be better
Having been a huge Transatlanticism fan, I bought this the day it came out and left it to collect dust for the next year. I heard it didn't live up to the previous album at all and i didn't want to ruin death cab for myself
anyway the other day i just popped this into my cd player and i was pleasantly surprised.
really catchy but that doesn't mean it's not meaningful.
marching bands, crooked teeth, your heart is an empty room i can replay on my ipod many times. actually all of the ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - I agree; perfection...almost
Had Transatlanticism never been released I think this album would have been rated four and a half stars. Transatlanticism was so stellar that it would have been impossible to top on the follow-up record. This is a lush and beautiful album. Nothing more really needs to be said.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Perfection
This album is the best indie album i have every heard , the entire thing is captivating and very moving , at first i hated soul meets body but i bought this album on a whim and i love it , its one of my favorites. give this a try , take a few listens and then judge.
