![]() Rating: - another solid outing as 'Psycho' turns into a (good) franchisePsycho III (1986) effectively turns 'Psycho' into its own franchise, but few (if any) horror franchises can claim to have every film in the series be both quality AND actually competently continuing the personification of its character(s) (in this case, Norman Bates obviously, who changes very dynamically as the sequels go on), as opposed to merely rehashing the same 'slasher' plot like the Halloween and Nightmare on Elm Street series. It should be noted that you should have seen both ... Read More Rating: - Psycho 3 Bites! Psycho 3 was lousy and I agree that Psycho III was the weakest Psycho installment of them all and that Psycho II seemed to be where the Psycho installments stopped being good. As a matter of fact, Psycho III seemed foremost like a repeat or a reliving of how the original Psycho was since Norman Bates(Tony Perkins) was just simply reliving his days as a schizophrenic posing as both himself and his dead mother killing customers at the Bates Motel again like he did in the original Psycho, ... Read More Rating: - MOTHER!This does very well relate to number 2 in the ''Psycho'' series. This does go with gore and horror. But when Mrs. Spools skeleton is haunting Norman with Mother's spirate. Norman is going crazy after he sees Marian Crane from the original Psycho until he saves the death but when the reporter pampers Norman into the killing world, Norman starts dressing in that wig and going crazy and kills 6 people in this movie. Not as suspenceful as number 2 but still gory and horror. This was 1986 and good shape with ... Read More Rating: - 3 1/2 STARS THIRD TIMES A CHARM! GOOD SEQUEL!It's hard to believe they made a descent sequel for the original Psycho. It's even harder to believe that they could do it again. There are plenty of references to the original in both sequels and that's part of the fun. To enjoy these films you have to have a sense of humor and just go with it. Perkins is twitchier than ever in this third installment and mother is up to her old tricks! There are some good scares to be had too! The DVD transfer looks very good. I bought this in a 2 disc all 3 sequel edition ... Read More Rating: - Three Times More Terrifying!!!!!!!!!!Basically Psycho 3 is covering pretty much the same ground as the first film, but with a bit more black humor, more sex, a higher body count, and Jeff Fahey. It abandons the psychological thriller/mystery approach of the previous film, going more for an all out slasher vibe. That's not to say there isn't a story here coz there is. The story just isn't terribly strong or complex this time around. That doesn't stop it from being fun though! Norman's trying to adjust to his new "mother"(see part 2 for clarification ... Read More |
