Designed to be used in both indoor and outdoor environments, this unit has an IP55 (Ingress Protection) rating. The Mace CAM53CIR features a long-range IR (InfraRed) LED (light emitting diode) illuminator that allows it to receive a picture in complete darkness, and a built-in weatherproof microphone making it an ideal solution for security surveillance, or any other situation requiring 24-hour monitoring. This camera utilizes a 0.33-inch color Sony CCD (charge-coupled device) image sensor, with an extremely high resolution of 470 horizontal TVL (TV lines). The CAM53CIR utilizes a 4.3-millimeter fixed lens, operates on the NTSC signal format, and achieves a S/N (signal-to-noise) ratio of 48 dB or better. This unit is extremely good in low-light and no-light conditions, with a minimum illumination of one Lux in standard color mode, and the ability to receive a usable picture under no-light (0 Lux) conditions up to 50-feet away with the IR illuminator on. The IP55 rating means this unit has a protection level of five against solid-body ingress, and a protection level of five against the ingress of water. Five is the second-highest protection level against solid bodies, meaning the CAM53CIR is protected against dust ingress to the point of disallowing harmful deposits. Protection against water ingress goes up to level eight, and a five means this unit will protect your camera against the effects of low-pressure jets of water from any direction. The CAM53CIR comes complete with features such as automatic white balance, and a built-in automatic electronic shutter with speeds ranging from 1/50 to 1/100,000 of a second. Technical Features:
About Surveillance Camera Technical Features Lux rating is the measurement used to indicate how sensitive a camera is to light, and stands for the level of light reflected off a piece of paper by a candle from one meter away. Thus a sensitivity of three Lux would mean a camera could generate an acceptable picture of a piece-of-paper-sized object that was illuminated by the equivalent of three candles from one meter away. The lower the Lux level, the better the camera's ability to work in low-light conditions. The camera's resolution should be greater than or equal to the resolution supported by the system's recorder or monitor. The S/N, or signal to noise ratio, is an important measure of a camera's quality. A poor camera, low-light conditions or poor wiring causes "noise" which consumes processing power and disk space. A camera with a wide dynamic range is ideal, especially for recording areas in which both indoor and outdoor light are present. CCD (charge-coupled device) sensors provide high-quality images that are less susceptible to noise.  Rating:  - Great product for priceThis CCTV camera is one of a very few that offers audio.. and is priced very reasonable.. and easy to install :) I installed this camera for a friend which helped her Ex Son Inlaw get 90 days in the local county Jail for violation of the protection Order they had against him :) A picture may only be worth 1,000 words but a video can get you 90 days or more ....lol Rating:  - Not so good in the darkI have tried several cameras in this price range all different brands and I think this camera does well during daylight, but in the dark it does not. The LED's seem to only light up the center of the image and the edges are dark. The less the contrast the more washed out the image is at night. The mounting bracket is a little hard to work with, but it allows many different positions which is good. I also liked the size of this camera not to big to hide under eves. Rating: - Wide view, and great long range visibility in the darkGenerally Lorex is my favorite brand for security cameras. But this camera is the best I've used ever. It has a far wider view angle. So it's perfect for home use. What surprised me the most was that it has great visibility in extreme darkness. Colors (yes color) can be determined in the dark. The only complaint I have is the odd mounting bracket. It allows the camera to be mounted from top, bottom, or off any angled object. But the bracket is hard to tighten up without messing up the camera ... Read More Rating:  - Great if you are prepared to spend extra $$$Previously to purchasing this camera I did my home work and found this particular camera the perfect one for my needs at a very fair price. Well the camera is very good...clean images and such,but it was not until I spent another $33 for two BNC to RCA adapters and purchased additional cable would I even know that. So at least I can give you the heads up so you can be more prepared then I was. This camera only comes with 42 inches of cable and does NOT come with standard VCR hook ups. Rating: - Perfect security cameraI needed a camera to see all of my front yard , my culdesac, and provide a clear detailed view. This camera far surpasses my expectations. I purchased two cameras prior to this one for the same purpose. However, they were ineffective for the goal I had in mind. This camera took both of thier places and I now use them for different purposes. You will be amazed with not only how much it sees, but how clearly it sees it. |
