His 12th HBO special was recorded live at the Beacon Theater in New York City on November 17, 2001. In "Complaints and Grievances," Carlin shamelessly exposes the people and subjects that irritate him the most. His bold brand of humor forces us to laugh at our own behavior when it comes to disgusting hygiene habits, those annoying family newsletters and people who use credit cards to pay for inexpensive items. This riotous collection includes the routines "Traffic Accidents - Keep Movin'!," "You & Me (Things That Come Off Of Your Body)," "Parents of Honor Students," "Guys Named Todd," and "Why We Don't Need 10 Commandments." ![]() Rating: - dvd purchaseI am always pleased with all of my Amazon purchases and this is no exception. George Carlin has long been one of my favorite comedians and now that he has died (God Bless his soul), having a collection of his DVDs is important. Amazon, keep up the good work as you have always been such a help to me (especially in locating hard to find products) Theresa Burckley Rating: - Angry old man isn't funnyCarlin was always acting like a bitter old man and people call that "funny." I saw the act "Religion is b. s." and "abortion," and there was no humor, just sarcastic support for his own wicked ways. The "invisible man in the sky" came down and took on human form in the person of Jesus Christ. Yet, Carlin rejected the faith which has as its symbol "a guy nailed to two pieces of wood." Carlin also thought he could improve the ten commandments. Well, first of all, that guy nailed to two pieces ... Definitely a great laugh yet I don't agree with everything he says I think he's still really funny. He makes some clever complaints and clever ideas. Must see (have to be open minded though). Rating: - Didn't dig this one at allI've been a fan of George Carlin for quite a while, so I was looking forward to seeing this DVD. But after the first few minutes, I turned it off - because it turned *me* off. I don't mind "the 7 words you can't say" in a comedy sketch, but being vulgar right off the bat - nope (what I call "jr. high humor for boys). George Carlin is very intelligent and can be really funny - check out some of his other work. Rating: - Funny and So PerceptiveI still laugh to myself when I think of the bits that came out of this session of his insights and observations on life. |
