Editorial Review:

Amazon.com:
The sequel to 2002's Verve Remixed follows and improves upon the original's formula; take material from the storied vaults at Verve Records and let top DJs of the modern era have at them. Featuring an impressive roster of dance artists like Miguel Migs, Koop, and Fila Brazillia, the trick is matching DJ with jazz standard in a way that compliments both. It's a tough chore, given the classics involved and the need to do them justice. On Sarah Vaughan's "Whatever Lola Wants," Gotan Project manage the task with distinction, filtering rustic and romantic accordions through the song's lusty machinations. Astute choices are required, like Mondo Grosso's decision to build a solid thump out of just the central melody of Archie Shepp's "Blues For Brother George Jackson." Sometimes, the best thing to do is get out of the way; Mr. Scruff's Soul Party Mix of "Do What You Wanna" only adds some background party noise to Ramsey Lewis' ripping keyboard solo. VR2 doesn't hit the mark every time, but the combinations that work accomplish what only the best dance music does--they crumble the walls between genres and encourage us all to get down together. --Matthew Cooke

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - 2nd time is a charm
I love the verve remixed series - the best mixes wherever, whenever you need them - thank you. Remixed squared is my favorite. The marriage of the dance and the jazz work together stretching the music to beautiful new places. Sinnerman, Whatever Lola Wants, Brother Where Are You?, Soul Sauce, Fried Neckbones, Naima's Love Song, Black is the Color... are genius. I didn't love Angel Eyes as much as the rest but even it is strong.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Five stars for one song
this CD is hit or miss. Mostly miss for me. However there is a big but in here. Big enough to give it five stars. If you are an Ella fan you have to part with the cash to hear what has been done with Slap that Bass. That one song is worth the price of admission

Rating: 2 out of 5 stars - Volume 2
The first "Verve/Remixed" focused on Divas, mostly those of the Jazz genre. This disc deviates from that enjoyable formula by expanding to female pop singers, male vocalists, and instrumentalists.

VERVE/REMIXED 2 consists of 14 newly remixed songs. Disc packaged in clear jewel case; total running time: 72:08. Booklet does not include information about the original recordings (not even songwriting credits).

There are once again two remixes of Nina Simone recordings. There ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - THE Verve
overall great album, my favorite of the series...
just the right tempo and selection of artists make this a perfect album for a chillout but up-beat enough session without falling asleep

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Another good package
This is the second remixed CD from the Verve Remixed series. These tracks are still well mixed but I do find a few tracks which are quite noisy (a bit over-the-top). Still, I think there are enough good dance tracks to keep this CD in your stereo for sometime. If you are asking for more, then try getting the 'Complete Verve Remixed Box-Set' which comes in a package of four (3 + 1) CDs.
