The PVL353 comes equipped with a 20:1 optical zoom. This powerful feature acts like a telescope to produce extraordinary close-up shots, superior in clarity to those provided by digital zoom. You can also choose between four zoom speeds, so you can go from a wide angle to full telephoto zoom in 2 to 16 seconds. It also has a 700x digital zoom, which significantly increases the range of video capture when complemented with the optical zoom. The dual Digital Electronic Image Stabilization (D-EIS) compensates for unintentional hand and camcorder movement when recording. You can also use it in playback mode to help reduce jitter in previously recorded video. Playback can be done through a VCR or quick review can be accomplished using the 2.5 inch LCD screen.  Rating:  - What a great deal & very easy to use !I bought this Panasonic PV-L353 for my Girlfriend's Christmas present last year, and it's been excellent. Many great features at a decent price. After my full size RCA movie camera died, I didn't know how well the new compact camcorders from Panasonic would perform, but we have been VERY pleased, and I would recommend them to anyone looking for a reliable easy to operate unit. This is the second time that something has broken on it. It is not worth the money, buy a Sony. I spent time learning how to use this camcorder by going over the manual page by page. I had no problems with the picture,viewing, recording or setting the features to my specification. I get a good picture on the the LCD, VSH-C and the viewfinder. I have found it to be a great camcorder with multiple features that I had not seen on other models in the price range($230+). If anyone is thinking about ... Read More Rating: - DON'T BUY THIS CAMERA!I received the camera for christmas from my family this year and I haven't been able to use it once. The picture quality is horrible, it's grainy and the colors are dull - when I zoom in on things the colors become more gray and the picture gets extremely grainy. I sent it in to get repaired and it came back with broken buttons and the picture is still horrible. Apparently the people at the factory repair place couldn't find anything wrong with it.
