Revolución de Amor, the four-piece band's first studio album in five years, continues Maná's ongoing dual interest in themes of love and social issues, and the band is masterful at packaging its potent messages in an accessible guitar-based sound. Hailing from Guadalajara, Mexico, Maná create an organic mix of classic rock, modern rock, and traditional Latin music that will appeal to fans of Santana and Rubén Blades (both of whom make guest appearances here). But the band is also able to attract younger audiences thanks to punkier songs such as "Nada Que Perder," which could very easily break through on K-rock radio stations across the U.S. One of Maná's best albums to date, Revolución de Amor is proof positive that Latin rock can be accessible to a broad range of people who don't speak Spanish. --Tad Hendrickson Album Description: Electric and acoustic violinist explores the styles of latin, afro-cuban, jazz and electronica with world beat rhythms. Album Description: A musical blend of the style and arrangements that Mana is very well known for, but also features other musical forms such as Funk and Afro, Cuban performances recorded by the group for the first time. Finalizing the completion of this Inernational globe of music, two musical legends collaborate and join Mana on Revolucion De Amor, Carlos Santana and Ruben Blades. 12 tracks. 2002. Average Rating:
![]() Rating: - Mana Fan ForeverI bought this as a treat for myself! And I must say...I absolutely loved it! Off and on I had heard their songs play on the radio, and one day i finally decided to buy an album of theirs. Mana's sound is very unique. I would consider it reggae rock with a wist of pop. On the album one can hear excellent guitar & drum solos. If I had to compare them to anyone else I would say: The Police, U2, and Journey. Yes, MANA is that good! Fher has awesome vocals, Sergio is great on guitar, and Alex 'El Animal' ... Read More Rating: - Maná is great! This was the first Maná CD I have ever purchased. I really like it. They blend traditional latin music and great rock guitar work. I will buy more of their recordings. Rating: - Same tunes and lyrics as beforeNot asking to recreate music however after Sueno Liquido nothing innovated has come out of the band. Read More Rating: - An advance beyond their pastI realize that I'm operating at a disadvantage in reviewing this CD. I don't speak Spanish (although I took it in high school and college) and I haven't followed Maná throughout their career. I'm just an late-arriving Americano who appreciates good music whatever its country of origin. Nevertheless, I was blown away by this CD's sound: its harmony, arrangement, and emotion. In fact, I was blown away enough to order the 3-CD set of their earlier CDs on Warner, based on Amazon reviewers' raves ... Read More |
