Editorial Review:

Amazon.com:
It's the rare greatest-hits album that takes on a life of its own. Generally, best-of collections are superceded by updated retrospectives. Hot Rocks is one of the rare exceptions to the rule. Originally released in 1972, it instantly became the Stones intro of choice, elbowing aside Big Hits, High Tide and Green Grass and Through the Past Darkly. Why? It happened to hit the racks when Mick and company were at their creative peak. The 21 tracks found here represent seven years of dizzying growth. From "Time is on My Side" through "Satisfaction" and "Let's Spend the Night Together," on to Sticky Fingers's "Brown Sugar" and "Wild Horses," Hot Rocks never lets up. The likes of Sucking in the '70s and Jump Back come and go, but this Stones overview will not be moved. --Steven Stolder

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - You can sometimes get what you want
This is a must own double CD of The Stones early work and is as timeless as any album they have ever released. I own the album version of this gem but no longer have the capability to play it so...to replace it I bought this DSD remastered set and the sound quality is excellent. However, this is not an SACD if that is what you are expecting!! For those who want a quality sound and to hear songs from their beginning up until 1971, this is an excellent choice...

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Rolling Stone Hot Rocks
Early Stones at their best. You can understand the lyrics! That alone was worth the purchase.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - hot rocks
what can I say? This is exactly what it is supposed to be. It is exactly what I ordered and what I expected, what more could I ask?

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - The Stone's Best
This album has been around since vinyl and could be called the Stone's Greatest Hits. The only one left out is Far Away Eyes. If you have no other Stone's album, this is the one. Roy

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - awesome set from The Stones
Hot Rocks 1964-1971 is an awesome two CD Stones compilation set that has so many of their best hits. This also makes a great introduction to the band, too, just as other people have said. The sound quality is excellent and the artwork is really nicely done.

The first CD starts with "Time Is On My Side;" this classic Stones tune really rocks well and they deliver this with lots of positive energy! The percussion is great; and The Stones sing and play this to perfection! "Heart Of Stone" ... Read More
