David Suchet brings the great detective Hercule Poirot to rich life in this collection of some of Agatha Christie's best work. This entertaining set includes three episodes, all lovingly true to their 1930s settings. The Disappearance of Mr. Davenham takes the standard case of a businessman's disappearance and spices it up with a friendly wager that Poirot can't solve the mystery without leaving his apartment. The Veiled Lady is more of a comic caper, as Poirot and the ever-ready Captain Hastings (Hugh Fraser) resort to burglary to stop a blackmailing cad, and The Lost Mine is cleverly set in a Chinatown reminiscent of the '30s concept of the Mysterious East. Suchet is a perfect Poirot, capturing both his dignity and his humor, and Fraser does a beautiful job of underplaying Hastings enough to keep him the perfect sidekick without ever making him boring. Special features include selected cast filmographies and biographies of Agatha Christie, David Suchet, and Poirot himself. --Ali Davis

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Best Poirot ever
David Suchet is the best Poirot ever, an extraordinary adaptation of Agatha Christie's mystery novels. a BBC, A&E, & Granada production.
As seen on PBS

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - David Suchet!
I am a mystery fan, and an Agatha Christie fan. The only actor who protrayed H. Poirot as a Christie charater is, of course, David Suchet. And that allows the stories to come to life.
I am also a David Suchet fan..
He great in all that he does (he is terrific bad guy!) And he brings that talent to the Poirot movies...... Very enjoyable!

Arrived on time. No damage. Gave as a gift and recipient just loves them.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - It's great!
Every once in a while, an actor comes along who not only plays the role of Sherlock Holmes, but actually redefines the role. Well, this has now happened with Agatha Christie's detective, Hercule Poirot! In 1989, veteran actor David Suchet (b.1946) was tapped to play Poirot, and the rest, as they say, is history.

This marvelous DVD contains three(!) of the hour-long episodes of the Adventures of Hercule Poirot:

The Disappearance of Mr. Davenheim - Season 2, episode 5 (4 February ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Brilliant as usual
There is something just so lovable about this Belgian detective and his little gray cells. What is incredible about this entire series is the attention to detail on costumes, settings and ensuring that the art-deco feel of parts of England can be recreated. I have always been a great fan of Agatha Christie and, in particular, the character of Hercule Poirot (I have found Miss Marple to be rather annoying). But David Suchet has resulted in a fan following for this character that has little to do with the ... Read More
