Editorial Review: Product Description: This high performance cleaning cassette maintains clear pictures in DV format and is recommended for use when picture noticeably deteriorates. The digital tapes that DV Cameras use are heavily loaded with metal particles that shed during use. The result of particle shedding will tend to appear on the play back screen as white dots or lines. Using a cleaning tape can help reduce the particle build up on the heads, lessening the possibility of having to take your DV camera to the service shop for costly cleanings. Average Rating:
![]() Rating: - Does the trickChose not to use anything but a Sony cleaner on my Sony heads. Took a couple attempts, but took care of dropped frames. Recommend having one of these in your camera bag at all times. Rating: - Did the trickThe output, both LCD and copper to my TV, displayed horizontal bars when viewing a mini DV on my Sony camcorder. After initial panic, I looked in the user guide and saw it was a symptom of a dirty head. Running the head cleaner for 10 seconds cleared the picture and it is up and running again. I have read on other sites that using tapes from multiple manufacturers is bad for the tape heads, and I have been using tapes from 3 different manufacturers. A more expensive generic cleaner bought at Radio Shack didn't do the job, but this one worked great. I use my camcorder ALOT and had this ZR500 for over two years. I thought it was malfunctioning due to my high usage and it's age. So I brought a new one but when I stuck one of my old tapes in the new one those same old lines would show up again. NOW WAIT A MINUTE! THIS IS A NEW CAMCORDER! Since the camcorder was new I was eligible for free tech support. When I called Canon they told me that the type I used was contaminated ... Read More |
