Haunting vocals, melodic guitar solos & sign of the times lyrics combined with solid drum beats & Arabic guitar tones make Eye Of The Storm a winner. Frank's true musical influences shine brightly on almost every cut. The Doors, Santana & even Pink Floyd are prevalent. Tracks include, 'He's Calling', 'Avalon' & 'Since You Came Into My Life'. ![]() Rating: - Love this musical cornucopia of guitar!!!Frank Marino is the most under-rated guitarist of all time. Love the new stuff and the old "lengthy solos"!!! 5 Stars...Also glad to see Frank is now a born again Christian, way to go brother Marino!!! Rating: - Extraordinary Guitar Playing but....This guy can really wail. This album contains some extraordinary guitar soloing by an exraordinary but underappreciated guitar player. That said, this is not a great album. The reviewer SM has hit the nail right on the head. This sounds like one long fast guitar solo over a plodding mid-tempo rythm section, both stuck in an endless loop going on for 62 minutes. When the album starts out, you sit there thinking, whoa, this guy can really play. But by the time the third or fourth song rolls around, ... Read More Rating: - Still Making Great MusicI've been a fan since about 1975. This a more mature Frank Marino as evidenced by the lyrics. My favorite cut has to be Ordinary Man. Love the "3rd Stone from the Sun" ending. But all the songs are strong. Get his 'Real Live' cd also and see that he is just as technically good live. He has got to be one of the best overall guitarists ever. He plays hard rock, psychedelic rock, jazz, blues, slide all at a maestro level. Some guitarists may be able to come close to him in one type, but ... THIS ALBUM SHOULD DISPEL ANY RUMORS ANOUT A HENDRIX REINCARNATE!! FRANK HAS TAKEN ANY SOUNDS THAT CONNECT HIM TO ... Storm Warning/Eye of the Storm is a great tune. A very solid album, great riffs & drums. Somebody get this guy a decent record deal. |
