Editorial Review:

Product Description:
Film, as well as video, often exhibits a greater sensitivity to what is to us invisible, ultraviolet light. This is most often outdoors, especially at high altitudes, where the UV-absorbing atmosphere is thinner; and over long distances, such as marine scenes. It can show up as a bluish color cast with color film, or it can cause a low-contrast haze that diminishes details, especially when viewing far-away objects, in either color or black-and-white. Ultraviolet filters absorb UV light generally without affecting light in the visible region. It is important to distinguish between UV-generated haze and that of air-borne particles, such as smog. The latter is made up of opaque matter that absorbs visible light as well as UV, and will not be appreciably removed by a UV filter. The UV Protector shields lens from dust, moisture, scratches, and breakage.

Amazon.com Product Description:
Protects lenses from dust, moisture, scratches, and other damage. These filters can be kept on the camera at all times.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Glare, flare: whatever it is called, this filter causes it
I got this Tiffen filter to protect my new Panasonic FZ28's lens, and it has just proven that it cost $10.81 more than it is worth. I was testing the camera outside during the evening and, as I focused on the city lights, I suddenly noticed that the lights were bouncing off the filter and reflecting into the camera. I took a couple of test shots with the filter, removed it and took another couple of test shots. When I downloaded the images into my computer, there they were: horrible "ghost" lights ... Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Excellent Product and a great price.
The Tiffen 46mm UV filter fit my Fujifilm S700 camera perfectly. I was also able to use the Fujifilm lens cap on the filter!! Chet Banas, Minocqua, WI.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great Deal
Naturally these aren't professional quality filters, but for the price point they are a very good purchase. They are far better than dime store variety that you see offered in the package deals on various other sites. I'm using them on my Panasonic FZ28 and I've found them to be quite effective for their intended purposes. The glass is evenly ground and the colors uniform. They come in a nice case as well. I would label these as a "best buy."

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Best in class
I bought the first set for a colleague while in the US and after looking at the pictures she took this set is highly recommended. So when a colleague asked what filter set to buy for her FZ18 i recommended this item. So this second purchase is for that colleague. Highly recommended.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Photo color and contrast
Tiffen's circular polarizer may not be the cheapest but it is worth the price. It effectively removes atmospheric haze in landscape and city photographs. Colors have deeper tones without appearing artificial, creating a crisper image with enhanced depth. I consider it essential equipment for anyone who wants more than a simple aim-shoot photograph. Highly recommended.
