For Third Day, it's never been truer than on Time, the band's third release and the first to openly embrace their Southern rock traditions. While producer Monroe Jones coaxes a somewhat softer-sounding Third Day in this pleasing effort, the band still rocks hard for the most part. "Took My Place," for instance, is a Southern-fried rave-up powered by the twin guitars of Mark Lee and Brad Avery paced by the gritty vocals of Mac Powell. Yet Third Day also lessens the blows, as with the poignant ballads "I've Always Loved You" and "Your Love, Oh Lord." Fans will get the best of both worlds in the loose, rootsy "Don't Say Goodbye," one of the album's best moments. Time captures a band maturing and owning up to both its spiritual and musical legacy. --Michael Lyttle Average Rating:
![]() Rating: - Their Best AlbumAlthough not as edgy as previous albums, this is a very listenable album. I love Third Day. They have softened up a bit over the years, but this is their best work. Get this one. Rating: - At Their Best!!"luckily" I backed into this one! It's now become my favorite Christian recording of all time and one of my top 5 of any category! Third Day, as a band, was my ultimate bridge to Christian music, with the launch of Wire. I found Wire so different and rare among the many other lame artist recording that were, and still, are played regularly on the insperational stations that I had to explore their music further. It took me 5 CDs to get to this one! Out of the 6 I own it's my absolute favorite! ... Rating: - Musically, Third Day's best albumAfter their worst-selling album, "Conspiracy no. 5," Third Day must have known they needed to stick with their roots and create a CD comprised of their signature southern rock and classic rock blend. The final product ends up being 33% southern rock, 33% Christian contemporary, 33% country, and 100% pure genius. While lyrically this album is not as completely open or beautifully written as some of their later work, the music varies from soft ballads to raucous rock and roll. When the ... Read More Rating: - Third Day: rock chameleons.Well, at first, the reason I purchased this cd is because of the song; 'Your Love Oh Lord (Psalm 36)'. I saw the video for that song many years ago on the christian music t.v show 'One Cubed' and the song struck me. It was kind of like my initiation into christian rock. It is such a fantastic song and it means a lot to me. It reminds me to deepen my faith and sometimes when I struggle, that song brings me back to that time and place when I first heard the song, on my knees in front of the telly. It ... Read More |
