Editorial Review: Product Description: The CanoScan FB 620U puts incredible scanning performance on any desktop from a space little bigger than a sheet of paper. Thanks to Canon's patented LIDE technology, you get superior quality scans from an ultra-compact machine. It's sleek, stylish and incredibly easy to use, delivering impressive 36-bit color scanning at the push of a button. You can even program it to automatically print, e-mail or fax your scanned documents.Imagine faxing, copying or e-mailing your scanned documents at the push of a button. The CanoScan FB 620U makes it that easy. Simply select a function in the software window and press the scan button. Your scanner will scan your document and automatically send it to the desired destination, whether it's your printer, fax modem or e-mail program. And with its state-of-the-art USB interface, connection to your Windows 98 PC is as simple as plugging it in. Amazon.com Review: The CanoScan FB620U seems barely bigger than the documents it scans. However, this little machine is packed with power--it makes high-quality scans of graphics, photos, line art, or text, and offers great imaging and optical character recognition (OCR) software for an incredibly low price. To set up the CanoScan, we attached the cable to our PC, plugged in the AC adapter, dropped in the CD-ROM, and followed the setup wizard. (If you restart your computer before running the CanoScan's setup wizard, you can cancel the Windows New Hardware Installation wizard that runs automatically.) When following the setup wizard, make sure you indicate that you want to install the 620P, not the 320P whose drivers are also included on the same CD-ROM. In our tests of the CanoScan, we first conducted preview scans of several documents and images just to get acquainted with the scanner. These preview scans and other low resolution scans (75 dpi) were fast and easy, but high-resolution scans were much slower. Still, the images were sharp and clear, and the final scans were comparable to those of much more expensive scanners. If you're looking for an inexpensive, light-duty scanner that's easy to set up and learn, the CanoScan makes a fine choice. Pros:

![]() Rating: - works fine on Windows XPI wanted to let everyone know this machine works fine with Windows XP. Canon has updated the drivers and they are easy to download from the Canon site and come with detailed instructions. After loading with Windows XP drivers, this machine was scanning in documents just fine using Adobe 6.0. The machine is made for Windows 98 so is selling very inexpensively used, particularly on ebay where I got mine for under $15. So, the obvious advantages are that Canon still supports this unit even ... Read More Rating: - Excellent first scannerEasy hookup to my PC-Pentium II processor. Easy setup, except for several attempts to complete the registration via modem--finally skipped through that and did the registration online. After that, I was quickly on my way, scanning my first photo in minutes. I felt it did a great job. I emailed my photos and response from my friends on the quality were very positive. Excellent choice for first-time scanner purchasers. Only downside is there is no on/off switch. Overall I'm very ... The scanning is a little slow going for high defintion but works great for scanning documents. The thing we appreciate the most is being able to control the size of the scanned item. This allows us to maintain more records on a hard drive than what other scanners have allowed us. Rating: - Good ScannerWhen I bought this scanner, it was about 99 bucks. I am very happy with it. It is very easy to use and hook up. Just follow the quick start guide and your golden. One touch scanning makes scanning quick and simple. Just press a button and select the program to use. It scans up to 1200 DPI which is plenty. It comes with good software- Textbrige Plus, Adobe Photodeluxe Home Edition 3.0, ScanGear CS-U, and Toolbox CS. I don't recommond it for Windows 95.(USB dosn't work good with Win95) If you consider ... Read More Rating: - just OKThe picture quality is good though it's just a CIS scanner, not a CCD scanner. And it's noisy, but really a good choice for webpage maker. |
