Editorial Review:

Amazon.com essential recording:
Putting together a comprehensive boxed set for an artist such as Barry White--whose multifaceted recording career extends across several decades--is a daunting task, especially considering that the man with the instantly recognizable, unmistakable voice has racked up nearly 50 hit singles in his capacity as a recording artist. Add to that his work as the creator and mastermind of the vocal trio Love Unlimited and the Love Unlimited Orchestra and the notion of a collection that's truly representative of this contemporary pop and soul legend seems nigh on impossible.

Fortunately, the compilers of this three-CD set succeeded in capturing all of White's major hits--from his first chart entry (1973's "I'm Gonna Love You Just a Little More Baby") to "Dark and Lovely," a 1992 duet with fellow deep-voiced lover man Isaac Hayes--as well as selections from the Orchestra (including 1973's unforgettable "Love Theme") and the trio ("Walkin' in the Rain with the One I Love"), giving a complete musical picture of White, the singer, producer, and writer. The addition of a previously unreleased track ("Love's Beginning") and the essential "Secret Garden" (from Quincy Jones's 1990 set, Back on the Block) make this the definitive Barry White collection. --David Nathan

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Remember sex? This brings it all back.
Listening to Barry White is not quite like being young again. But if your memory is still working, these songs will bring it all back. At least in your mind. Just wonderful.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - You can't go wrong with this item
I purchased this boxset on cassette many years ago. I am looking to replace my cassettes with CD. I must say the CD's are better quality. I love Barry White. The songs that were chosen, someone knew what they were doing. A majority of his many brillant songs are on this boxset. Buy it!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - How Ironic
I bought this box set for $37 dollars at Tower Records (no longer in existence) a week after he died, and it was well worth it. "Beware", "Just the Way You Are", and "Walking In the Rain With the One I Love" stand out for me, and I'll always treasure Barry White for what he's done for me and what he's greatly contributed to music.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - CLASSIFIED WORK + SOUL + GENIUS + BARRY = The Maestro
This is overall a Great Box Set which I expect for the very first time. I'd been wanting to get like ever since. It's "The Life and Times of Barry White". Cuts like "Sheet Music," "Change," "Love Makin' Music," "Sho' You Right," etc. are so touchy, good to dance, so hard to find, and mostly smooth, funky, gettin' down, soft 'n slow, whatever I need to subscribe.

I followed Barry's work over the years since first hearing "Love's Theme" by the LUO (short for Love Unlimited Orchestra),"Can't ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Can't Get Enough Of Barry? This Collection Should Give You Your Fill
Barry White was and remains one of the finest R & B artists who ever existed. He created excellent music and had a large legion of fans who worshiped him as the Bard of the Bedroom. Even after his untimely death in 2003, his music still lives on and you can have it all on this 1992 boxed set, fittingly titled "Just For You".

Disc one collects all of his major hits. This is where you'll find the timeless classics "Can't Get Enough Of Your Love Babe", "Never Never Gonna Give You Up", "I'm Gonna ... Read More
