Yet few people experience this type of relationship. Statistics show that approximately 20 million divorced people live in our country, and the median duration of any given marriage is just 7.2 years. Few people consider the role that their birth order has played in developing their own personality, how it has affected their prospective spouse's personality, or how the two personalities might make it living under one roof. As a result, after the initial intoxicating infatuation ends, most married couples are left to work their way through the agonizing hangover of conflicting birth orders. In The Birth Order Connection, Dr. Kevin Leman helps readers avoid such conflicts before they arise. He shows how to find and recognize the best and wisest choice for a life partner, provides tools to succeed in marriage, and teaches how an understanding of birth order can do wonders not only for future marriages but for those that have already begun. ![]() Rating: - The Birth Order Connection:This book is great!! I am a baby and I married a baby and boy can I really see the truth in all that Kevin Leman writes! Great author & speaker. Rating: - THE worst book on how to find the love of your life I have ever read (and I have read a few, having a psych degree)Other reviewers have covered most of my contentions with this book: Tons of generalities with no science to back it up. Also, even though it is titled "The Birth Order Connection," half the book is on birth order and how it can help you, and the other half is just about what Kevin Leman thinks will make you happy. The part where he said that if you want to be happy, don't marry someone who has been sexually abused made me very angry. Of course abuse can cause problems, as can anything from your past ... Read More Rating: - So Outrageous It's Offensive!I never actually spend my hard-earned money on a book until I have browsed through it in a bookstore or checked it out from the library. That said, I am so relieved that I have never actually purchased any of Kevin Leman's books. I have browsed through a number of reviews for his books online, and since many of them have been highly recommended I checked this one out from the library. Big mistake! If this book is truly an accurate representation of who Kevin Leman is, then I deeply rue ... Read More Rating: - Not all theories have graphsThis book is life-changing. Maybe Dr. Leman's theories aren't backed by numerical data, but let's not forget--not all data can be gauged in graphs or contained in charts. In fact, Leman's opinions are backed by something more solid than statistics: his wealth of experience with the human condition. He has counseled virtually thousands of couples and thus lays claim to a vast understanding of personality types as well as the institution of marriage. Leman didn't write this book with the intent to impress ... Read More Rating: - This is an embarrassment to psychology!!!As a doctorate student currently studying birth order, I am completely embarrassed to even admit that I read the first chapter. Dr. Kevin Leman has NO published scientific studies in regards to Birth Order, (or any published studies that I could find) therefore all of his findings are simply based on his own hokey family experiences, which in no way should be a platform for anyone to advise another how to better themselves. Yes Birth Order has relevance in our love relationships, but most importantly so do the ... Read More |
