And every child deserves to be recognized for what makes him or her unique. Now birth order guru, Dr. Kevin Leman, and his artist son, Kevin Leman II, offer parents the perfect way to tell each of their children just how wonderful they are. The first in a series of four read-to-me children's picture books, My Firstborn, There's No One Like You uses the principles of birth order to convey love, acceptance, and a sense of individuality to children. The combination of Dr. Kevin Leman's trademark humor and his talented son's artwork makes this book a wonderful gift. Average Rating:
![]() Rating: - Great for fans of Dr. LemanThese books are so wonderful, I'm so glad all three of my girls got them from Christmas. My girls are 5, 2 and 10 months so only the oldest really understood hers. That's fine with me; the younger two will grow into their books. It's amazing how much this book describes my child exactly. Yes the book is a bit long winded for a young child, but my 5-year-old enjoys it. Yes, these books are VERY Christian oriented- as are all Dr. Leman's books. If you are a fan of Dr. Leman's other books you will love ... Read More Rating: - DisappointedThe book struck me as silly and it bored my 6-year old, who wouldn't sit through it. It is also overtly Christian, so if you don't want to send a message about Christian God, it's not appropriate. I returned it. Rating: - A must haveAll parents of first borns should own this book. It is laugh out loud funny and brings tears of joy to your eyes. This book rang so true to our first born, even though he's of a different gender than the character in the book. I buy this for all my friends! Rating: - Too StereoptypedI am a psychologist and bought all 3 books in the series when my son's wife gave birth to his 3rd child. I didn't preview it before I read these books to the oldest as well as to newly deemed "middle child." I was disapointed and a bit apologetic to their parents when we all read it together. These children knew the message(s) in the book were related to them. I felt that since they are so young, they were getting a message about how they were going to (or should) turn out. Also, there were references ... Read More Rating: - Good for older children older than five. This book is very good to read to your firstborn. I purchased it as something special to read since baby sister came along. It is a little long winded for younger children. I have a four year old that is very interested in books and she was a little bored. I think the reading sections on each page are a too long for her. It is still a very good book. I look forward to sharing it with her more in the future. |
