Hamilton takes a more serious note than others just out to tell the stories, but fortunately never goes out on an intellectual limb to disect all meanings. Rather she handles the mythology professionally while still obviously revelling in the sheer awesomeness of these stories. She hits on as many myths as possible, including the works of Homer. I would get a little bored sometimes with some of the stories because the writing didn't capture my attention. This a good book for it you want a lot of different greek and roman myths. I recently bought it for my 5th-grade daughter, when she started reading the "Pendragon" series, so she would have a better understanding of the mythological references in that modern children's series.
