![]() Rating: - A thought provoking story I had known about Lammas Night since it was first published in 1983, but I was not ready to read it until now. I found the book very well written and plotted. It kept me reading and enthralled to the end, and the characters were people that I wish I had known in real life. One of the aspects that I appreciated most was her use of the Old Religion of the British Isles, specifically her non-sensationalist presentation of tenets of the faith many people follow to this day. Even if you're not, the storyline is suspenseful and fascinating, and the characters evoke great sympathy and admiration. An excellent read. Rating: - Simply the Best Fiction I've Ever ReadAnd I suspect that not all of it is fiction. Never cared for any of "The Adept" books and was startled to find myself so very moved by this. The setting, the terminology, the pace of the story are all exceptional. Rating: - Tears for Lammas NightI just finished Lammas Night. Like the Adept series, I couldn't put it down. This book at the end is a real tear jerker. However the abiding love between the characters more than makes up for the ending. I highly reccomend this book. I just wish she would write more about John Graham. He is a character with a lot of depth. Rating: - Beautiful novelI agree with most of the reviews of Lammas Night. I, too, read it at least once a year, despite its ending which can have me melancholy for hours after. But the one thing that stands out clearly, for me anyway, is - this is a novel about a deep and abiding friendship. Hence my sadness toward the end. Such is the talent of the author that I find myself wishing it would end differently each time I re-read it. |
