"I have no social conscience! I can't believe you want me to go to the nursing home and play lapcat, and let myself be petted by a bunch of doddering old coots!Animal Therapy indeed!" Joe Grey was, well, peeved. His human housemate Clyde was trying to volunteer him as a once-a-week Animal Therapy cuddle-kitty. And just when Joe was about to nab the cat burgler who was terrifying the coast from Half Moon Bay to Molena Point. But it wasn't up to Joe or Clyde. The "pet-a-pet" scheme was Dulcie's idea, and she was a cat who always got her way. Dulcie needed Joe's help to prove that the old folks' home was hiding more that just lonely seniors: a mysterious doll kipnapper, a severed finger, and a very busy open grave! Average Rating:
![]() Rating: - Joe Grey MysteryJoe Grey is always a great read. This book is in great condition. Highly recommend this seller. Will use again. Rating: - Cat therapy and mysteries being solvedIn this volume, Joe Grey and Dulcie - the talking cats - take on a couple of parallel mysteries. First, there is the matter of the "cat burglar" - an elderly woman who is driving and walking around the village of Molena Point in broad daylight entering people's houses and robbing them of cash, collectibles, and jewelry; most of the time, while the house occupants are at home working on gardening, or at their pools! The other mystery revolves around the local old folks home. In this case, ... Read More Rating: - Cat Raise the DeadI started reading Joe Grey in the middle of the series and am now starting at the beginning. I find the stories riveting with the fantasy of the speaking cats and that they are actually speaking to the humans. The descriptions of the California town and surrounding areas are realistic. The plots end satisfactorily with the idea that another book will be shortly produced.Cat Raise the Dead: A Joe Grey Mystery Rating: - More about loveable Joe Grey and DulcieThis time, the two talking cat detectives come to the rescue of some old people at a home and also catch a "cat burglar". When a few of the people at the home are suspicious and scared, Dulcie starts investigating and, as always, manages to get Joe Grey involved too. How they are everywhere to find out what goes on and how they can do surveilance and eavesdropping so much easier than a human are quite entertaining. Always, they keep the police captain jumping with their anonymous phone tips and keep him ... Read More Rating: - Engaging readAs a cat lover and a lover of mystery novels, I'll read anything that combines these two fascinations. This is the first book in the Joe and Dulcie series that I have read. However, the cat sleuth theme is not handled as convincingly here as in stories written by, for example, Lilian Jackson Braun and Rita Mae Brown. While I can suspend disbelief and accept that cats may communicate non-verbally with their owners, or with each other, I was not able to suspend my disbelief and accept that two cats can ...
