Amazon.com Review:
Just dumped by her lover, artist Claire Maxfield isn't really looking forward to her 30th birthday. After sharing a "celebratory" drink with a friend, Claire makes her way through the cold Fallon, Idaho, night and climbs into her jeep just in time to be carjacked by a mysterious man named Dylan who insists that Claire take him to her house--the perfect end to a perfect day! But in a strange twist of fate, Claire becomes the captor instead of the captive, and the handsome, injured Dylan ends up handcuffed to her iron bedstead. By the time Dylan's injuries heal, Claire's fallen in love with him. Unfortunately, she's convinced that he's an escaped convict, injured in a plane crash that killed the pilot. Is Dylan what he seems? And if he is, what future can a struggling artist like Claire hope for with a man on the run from the law? Sometimes hilarious, often tender, and always engaging, Some Kind of Magic is a great way to spend a few reading hours. Theresa Weir has written a winner in this well-plotted story of modern-day lovers who find and keep each other despite overwhelming odds. --Lois Faye Dyer

Product Description:
Be careful

Not much is duller than winter in sleepy Fallon, Idaho. So on her thirtieth birthday, Claire Maxfield wished for the one thingwell, one of the thingsmissing in her life: some excitement. Besides that voodoo doll from her best friend, she has no idea what she's about to get.

What you wish for...

That very night a mysterious injured man named Dylan carjacks Claire at gunpoint, ordering her to hide him. But once inside her secluded cabin, something strange occurs. Claire's powerfully attractive captor somehow becomes the captiveand Claire winds up taking care of him!

It might come true.

Just how did it happen, she wonders. Maybe that voodoo doll, now sporting one of Dylan's hairs, had something to do with it. Or maybe it was a different kind of magic, a spell that is mystifying, unbreakable, and absolutely irresistible.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - A VERY GOOD romance novel
This book pulled me out of a slump. Theresa Weir has a "style" to her writing that is hard to compare with any other author. I miss her romances but her suspenses under Anne Frasier are very good and she seems to thrive and do very well in that genre.

This book was a quick read. The h/h had plenty of sexual chemistry/tension between them and the story/plot took unexpected twists and turns. The only problem I had was with the heroine's obsession with the voodoo doll that she received ... Read More

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Magical
If I could I would rate this book with 4.85 stars, I would. It was really good. It was funny (as usually seen with this author) and unpredictable. You can't go wrong with voodoo dolls, handcuffs and a sauna. It was really good- but it wasn't amazing (thats why I didn't give it a full 5). It lacked something- I'm not really sure what it was but it still lacked it. Don't get me wrong, it was a really good book but it's not my favorite book from this author.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Unusual, refreshing, and funny contemporary romance
Some Kind of Magic was the first book I read by Theresa Weir and I will definitely seek out more of her books. This is a funny and charming story with gentle leads and realistic personalities. There is no high suspense or other contrived means to lengthen the book. It is mostly about two people who meet under very odd and misunderstood circumstances. Those misunderstandings, which the hero allows to continue, are the greatest challenge facing this couple.

Claire Maxfield is an artist ... Read More

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Enjoyed it very much!
I picked this book up at a used book store having never heard of Ms. Weir before. I am now a fan!! Really enjoyed this book and am looking forward to reading others.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Quirky, Funny Variation on Woman in Jeopardy Plot
This book has lots of elements you'd never expect to see in a romance. An Idaho winter, mittens, a sauna, a voodoo doll, chess... and handcuffs.

When Claire wished for excitement, she didn't mean for her wish to be taken so literally. Before she knows it, she is kidnapped by a mysterious stranger. Is he a criminal? Or is he, like Claire, simply another damaged person?

I've got to mention Claire's wardrobe. She dressed like characters out of the movie "Fargo." I'll bet Dylan ... Read More
