Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Excellent, Educational, Emotional
I did not purchase this book on Amazon, but I had to write a review anyway. I got my copy of The Cage on a trip to the Holocaust museum with my family, when I was in the 5th grade. On the drive back, I did nothing but read this book. Since then (I'm now 19) I've re-read it so many times that it's falling apart. Riva's story is compelling, heart wrenching, and still beautiful and courageous.

This is an excellent read for anyone, regardless of age.

I'm going to purchase a ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - an amazing story of survival
a well written book which has all the necessary elements to keep readers engaged from cover to cover. this book tugged at my emotions all the way through; i was horrified and saddened by the losses within the author's family unit, yet also inspired by her fight for survival and how she used her poetry to keep others fighting as well. a truly inspirational and quick read. highly recommended.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Never forget~Never Give Up~
What a powerful story of survial and at such a young age. I am so glad there are so many survial of the Holocaust stories for we who where not there (thank God) not even born yet to read. This is so real I felt Like I was Riva.

I take it as a responsibility to keep these truths alive and passed on to future generations. When I feel like I have it hard I think of many of these survivors and those who gave their very lives to save them.

That someone should be singled out just ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great Book
I've read many books on the Holocaust, but this one showed me the Jews' situation in a new way. Definitely pick up this quick read!

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Hope, reviewed by Theron
I read this book for a school assignment and am really glad I did. It is a story of a young girl named Riva Minska and her family in a Jewish Ghetto in Lodz, Poland. This story starts at the beginning of Hitler's dictatorship. Before reading this book I did not know much about the Holocaust and now feel as though I do. Riva and her family were forced to live in a Jewish ghetto where food was very limited and they had to where the yellow Star of David on their clothing. Riva lost her mother when ...
